BEFORE YOU LEAVE

Tips for traveling to California

Choose areas and allow time to move

California occupies a large area. These guides are independent stays, not consecutive stages of a short trip. Check the condition of the roads and the driving time before connecting the coast, cities, the Sierra Nevada and the desert.

Caltrans · road status in QuickMap

Confirm the park and ticket type

Disneyland and Disney California Adventure are in Anaheim; Universal Studios Hollywood is in the Los Angeles area. For Disney, confirm entry and park reservation for each date. Quick access services and special events may require an additional modality.

Disneyland Resort · tickets and park reservations

Yosemite changes with the seasons

In 2026 there is no timed reservation for entry to the park, but admission, accommodation, camping and specific permits are different issues. Check snow, roads and warnings before traveling; Don't assume that Tioga Road or the shuttles operate year-round.

Plan Joshua Tree based on heat

Check the forecast and closures; Carry downloaded maps, water and supplies. Shade and cover are limited. Even a short walk can be demanding in the heat: choose cool times and change or cancel the walk if conditions are not suitable.
